From the mouths of babes and children........

....come some rather embarrassing things! Well, I actually don't get embarrassed too easily. Sometimes I chalk that up to my days in nursing (everything got discussed, so you might as well quit blushing....), sometimes to a family that laughed uproariously at everything I cried over (well, only the unimportant things........like when I tucked my skirt into my nylons and walked into church like that.......), sometimes to just being a mom and daily dealing with the stuff of kids.

Anyway, there we were in NoFrills, getting a bit of shopping done. I noticed that Corin was having a scratching fit as we walked along. I didn't really want to talk about it in the store, but I did ask him, discreetly, if he had "wiped" properly. Don't get prim and proper on me - you know you've asked your kids these things, too. Of course, being 5 and a boy (that explains many things away...) he had no qualms about keeping this between me and him. No, he answered me as he thought best. "I just need to poop out some worms, mom". Aaaack! I shushed him before he continued this unappetizing conversation! A word of explanation: we had earlier talked about the importance of hand washing after playing outside - one of the possible consequences of unwashed hands is pin worm eggs. And pinworms = itchy bottoms. Enough about that.

Now on to Yvetta. I'm here, at the computer, checking e-mail, and I hear her saying, "Oh, it has a cute little tail." I smile as I read, wondering what she's playing with. I turn around to check and there she is with a pile of tampons, minus the applicators. They all had cute little tails. And in her world, they were all friends. She has a fascination with these things. She likes to get into my "boxes" in the bathroom cupboard and take the tabs off to reveal the sticky parts. Poor Corin was reading a book the other day with a pad stuck firmly to the back of it. Caleb got one attached to the bottom of his foot, pulled it off in disgust and said, "What are these things anyway?" I was at loss for words.

And today she plunked herself down in the corner of the deck, folded her hands, squeezed her eyes shut and prayed, "It's all my fault".

Is it only me? Only in my house? Only my kids?

Spring Happenin's

Daddy got the sandbox up and runnin' on Monday - good times were had by all! Instant attraction for the littles - the kind that draws them back, making it nice and easy for mommy to set up a chair and watch them in the spring sunshine.

Luke's got himself a job! With Rich's help he bought a lawn mower off Kijjiji (however you spell that crazy word.....) and handed out flyers to drum up some mowing customers. So far, he has 3 :)

Mom and Dad S.

Here's a lovely shot of my mom and dad with a couple of their grandaughters. I think you'll have to agree with me that they've never looked better. So youthful, so..........somehow I can't put my finger on the right words to describe this picture. So I won't try.
