Away we go!

Early Monday morning will see us off to Virginia! We've got a week of vacation ahead of us, and we are looking forward to some fun and refreshment. We plan to camp along the coast and then get steeped in the exciting history that surrounds the area - at least, that's what interests me :) The kids are full of talk of the thrill of getting up really early to leave (we're aiming for 4 a.m.!!), the coziness of sleeping in the trailer/tent, campfires, little critters like bugs and crabs, all the exploring that's waiting for us and the great fun of doing everything as a family. I always have some fears before a long trip - yet my comfort is this: We can make our plans, but the Lord leads our steps. And knowing He is leading, what have we to fear? We can entrust our holiday plans safely to His keeping; He knows best what we need.

See you in a week! I'm hoping to have lots of historical Jamestown/Williamsburg pics to share with you when we get back :)

(cute quote of the week from the mouth of one of our kids: "Being 93 is not very popular, is it?" :)

memory....

I had an old memory pop into my head recently - from waaaaaaaay back when I was 9 years old, or so. It was early spring - a gorgeous day, full of sunshine and the wild smells of thawing earth and new greenery. We were at church, talking after the service. My mom was chatting with her friend and I was hanging around her, wishing she'd finish up so we could go home. (hmmm, funny how I'm now the talking mom :) I wanted to put on some play clothes and enjoy the outdoors. I was very careful about my Sunday clothes. (Okay, maybe that's a bit of a lie. I just wrote it hopefully b/c I want to be able to say "they must take after their father" when I see my grass-stained, dirt smeared younger kids every Sun. :) Anyways, I wasn't paying much attention to my mom's conversation until I heard her friend say "Well, we always think spring has come for good and then May surprises us with a snow storm". She said it so smugly.......like she knew. So, when May up and surprised us with a snowstorm, I childishly felt mad at her. And I still think of her whenever winter drags its heels on its way out. But don't worry, I no longer blame her. No, I've matured far beyond that. Now I blame Rich. (hee, hee :)

"Blessed be the name of the God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons" (Dan.2:20,21)

Oh, so helpful!

Wow - we've got this amazingly helpful 2 year-old around here!

First, he gets himself dressed:

Then, he makes breakfast:

And last, but certainly not least, he sets the table:

Seriously, what more could I ask for? :)
