Kvikie

"Kvikie" is the dutch slang for "little bit of sticking up hair". Or, as Grandma A. uses it -"tiny ponytail". She's not sure of the spelling -but then, being slang, I suppose we can make up our own spelling. Anyway, when Grandma says it, that is how it sounds.

I may not have much hair, but at least I have enough for a kvikie :)

Skating

We had the priviledge these last coupla months to join the homeschoolers skating at a rec centre in the area - it was arranged by a homeschooling mom from around here, but 4 families from our church were almost the only ones ever there. It was great - good excercise and a chance to just have some fun, down-time with our kids. Usually the time flew by as the moms skated and talked, but sometimes, like today, only 1 mom was there (me, this time). So, I talked to the kids and took some pictures. I'd have better pictures if the kids were more co-operative!! It seemed like everytime I focused on someone, they'd suddenly disappear :) And being not too steady on my skates, even less so while trying to focus a camera, I had to take what I could get.

Now that skating is done and we're well into April, surely spring will come to stay! We were just getting used to walking outside without a coat on when we got hit with snow. But there are crocuses on the lawn and the sun promises better things to come. Soon we'll all have pictures of spring flowers, gardens being planted and sun-kissed little ones - can't wait!

Funny :)

I love to eat. I'm a slow eater, but an enthusiastic one. I recently learned where we keep the cereal boxes, how to pull them out of the cupboard, open the tab, turn the box upside down and.......shake. Wonderful things happen! A whole smorgasbord empties out onto the biggest plate in the world - the kitchen floor! No worries - my mom keeps her kitchen floor sparkling clean :)

All I have to do is crouch down and start munching. It works great! I don't need any help and it's really fun!

The only problem arises when I have a cold. Like last week. Somehow, everything ends up sticking to my nose........I'm not sure why :)

You should try it sometime. In fact, if you come over, I'd be more than willing to share. Any takers? :)
